NBN

Most people are familiar with the internet, but they might not know how we access it is changing. In the past, we used an ‘analog’ system, which relied on a network of copper wires to connect us to the internet. However, this system is now outdated and can’t keep up with our growing demand for data. So the government is investing in a new National Broadband Network (NBN).

The NBN is a ‘digital’ network that uses a combination of fiber optics and satellite and wireless technologies to deliver fast, reliable broadband services to homes and businesses across Australia. It’s designed to be much more efficient than the old analog system and will provide us with the capacity we need to stay connected in the future.

While the NBN is still developing, some areas have already been connected. If you live in one of these areas, you may be able to get an NBN-powered plan from your internet service provider. Otherwise, you can continue using your existing broadband service until the NBN is rolled out in your area.
